Resting in pieces

You rest in peace,
I rest in pieces.
While you forget,
I can’t forgive myself.

If you had been an oyster,
I wouldn’t touch your flesh
before loving your pearl.
And if a duet would play our song
a horn would have gone on.

And drums all over the sky
would sound above our hearts.
And even sleeping miles apart
our dreams would become one.

There’s nothing left to lose
but a smile upon your face,
because now you rest in piece
And in pieces I just rest.
